Hi I'm having the same problem with a Sony Media streaming device. The device is registered with Sony Essentials and the account is linked with MUBI on the Essentials website. I purchased credit with MUBI but am unable to watch via the device. I get the message, "you need a subscription to MUBI etc". It would be nice to be able to link the MUBI account with the Sony device.

Hello Captain Splendid,
Thank you for your message. Is your device registered with Sony Essentials as advised in this step-by-step guide?

Hello Steve,
Thank you for your message. MUBI is available on the following Sony BRAVIA enabled products: DTV10, DTV11, 5G, 5.5G, 6G, Netbox, BDV3G, BDV4G. May I first ask you to check that your device is on of these?

Hi Pawel, I have the same problem. I have a Sony Bravia KDL 40HX800, I live in The Netherlands. I saw Mubi on my TV and registered with Sony Essentails & with Mubi online. However, now I don't know how to get any step further. I don't know how to attach my MUBI account to my TV. And if I go to MUBI on my TV, I don't see any movies, just a message saying: "Alle elementen zijn gefilters" which is a (misspelled) translation of "Alle elements have been filtered". Hope you can help me out! Thanks!

Hello Eelco,
I guess that Jan has already explained the situation (thank you Jan!) but just to make sure MUBI will be coming to Netherlands on Sony BRAVIA devices soon. At the moment this service is only available in the UK.
Thank you for your patience and do let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi Pawel,
Yes, I think from your list it would be the NetBox. It’s a media streaming device. I’ve included a screen snippet from my Sony account which shows that it is linked with my MUBI account. The MUBI service comes up and I can see the various films etc but when I choose one I get a message telling me that I need a MUBI account,

Hello Steve,
Thank you for providing the above. I'm afraid that currently there is a technical limitation to MUBI service on BRAVIA. In order to use it you need to subscribe and the pay-per-view option is not available yet. However this may change as we push towards a final version, and we hope you'll be able to enjoy the service anyway.
Do let us know if there is anything else we may help with.
All the best,
Pawel

Hello Ben,
Have you followed all the steps as described in the guide: http://mubi.com/bravia? You did registered as a member but have you also bought the subscription? As of now in order to use MUBI on Sony BRAVIA there must be subscription activated with your account as pay-per-view is not yet available on these devices I'm afraid.
Please let us know if this is helpful.
All the best,
Pawel

May I point out that the Bravia page you refer to says:
You can now purchase a MUBI subscription for unlimited access to MUBI films on your Bravia device, or rent individual films on MUBI and watch them on your Bravia device.
Also the country information is outdated - please update.
Thanks. -

The same issue as above. Another promise Sony does not fulfill.
Sony Bravia KDL-32EX711
Apparantly Sony only supports newer/more expensive devices:
Local Network streaming is crappy, no new internet services are added, no internet radio services, and half of the online vide services does not work.
Am I glad I tested mubi only with non-paid content (no, 'free' videos also give errors.) -
-
oops... I have to come back to the previous - The free video's seem to play now. Maybe something was updated.

Hi Pawel,
Via Sony I registered on Mubi and it works! Great films. Many more wishes though....
Still I have 3 questions:
1- Sony promotes your services for 7.99 Euro and my account says next month it will be 12.99 that is 5 euro difference I don't want to pay.
see also http://www.sony.nl/pressrelease/2011/...
2- Via my pc i get offered almost a 900 films but not via Bravia. Just 85?
3- On my pc I see prices. Confusing or is this going to be billed extra?
Regards,
John -

Dear John,
Apologies for delay in replying. Thank you for the nice compliment and I will be happy to answer your questions.
€12.99 for subscription has been our standard price but we will be changing it this week to the new offer. Although you still see the prices why accessing MUBI online you will not be charged for watching. They show up irrespective of subscription being active.
As for the number of films available form our library via Sony BRAVIA we are currently investigating the issue and will post an update on that shortly.
Thank you for your patience and do let us know if there is anything else we may assist with.
All the best,
Pawel

Hello again,
I can see what's the issue now. On the landing page the “show per row” layout shows only 85 videos that belong to NEW category. However when you enter the ALL FILMS category you can see all 900+ films.
Thank you for your patience and do let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Hey there, I am currently living in Singapore and looking forward to get MUBI on our streaming media player, when is it going to happen here? also we want to know which device is best for MUBI here.
Thanks,

Hello Lynda,
As of now we do not have immediate plans to launch on BRAVIA in this territory I'm afraid. You can however access MUBI on your TV via Boxee set top box and we are always available online (PC/Mac).
Thank you for your patience and support. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Ok I managed to register on the site and can access the options on my Bravia TV. But I noticed that the old films are available there. I do not think it is worth paying
-
-
Dear jedurio,
Apologies for delay in replying. MUBI brings you the best of classic, independent and world cinema so indeed some of our films could be seemed as "old" as we want to include in our library the most important cinematic gems from the history of film. However if you visit us online at http://mubi.com/watch you may review the entire library of films in Brazil. Please go to FILMS and click the Advanced Filters link. You may then select to view films by Release Date by sliding the bar in between the years you are interested in. For example 2000-2012 returns dozens of titles screened and celebrated at recent film festival.
I hope this is helpful. Thank you for your patience and please let us know if there is anything else we may assist with.

Pawel

Hi there,
I have just now just watched my first movie streaming from Switzerland through a Bravia DVD player and was very happy about it but ...
The navigation on the DVD Is awkward as I didn't find the way to search for movies by name nor can I see the watch list that I had defined on my PC. Am I missing something on the Bravia platform ?
Thanks for your help,
Julien -
-
Hello Julien,
The Bravia interface does have a search option. The options menu pull out from the right hand side when you press options on the remote in the 6x3 grid. “Search” is the bottom option under the “categories” and “Sort By”.
Thank you for your patience and do let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
All the best,
Pawel
MUBI Support Team -
-
Thanks Pawel for your answer but...
When I press options the available menus are "sort by"/"category"/"home category" but no search. Also what about accessing the watch list from the account?
And an additional question as well, often I watch movies over two days. Would there be a way that the interface remembers where a movie was stopped to be able to start from the right place the next time?
Regards
Julien-
By the way I should add that I am streaming from a Sony Bluray player, does it make a difference?
I must admit I find it very frustrating to not be able to search so maybe you can take my message as a recommendation for improvement?
Another point is that when pressing "display" only very little information are displayed about the movies, no director, no genre, no date, no actor and moreover the language displayed seems to be the language of the SONY account and not the language of the MUBI account.
Thanks in advance for your comments -

Hello Mubi Support
I have similar problems as other people trying to play a film from my new Sony Internet TV (just purchased). The device is registered with Sony Essentials and the account is linked with MUBI on the Essentials website. I purchased credit with MUBI but am unable to watch via the device. I get the message, "you need a subscription to MUBI etc".
My device is a KDL-40EX724, I live in Finland and I have purchased credit. Should it be possible to watch a film?
Thanks, Tim -

Hello Tim,
The reason why you cannot access any content is that Pay-per-View is not available on MUBI via BRAVIA. You need to be a subscriber I'm afraid.
Thank you for your patience and please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
All the best,
Pawel
MUBI Support Team-
Hi Pawel. Thank you for your quick reply, that is now clear. What is not so clear is the MUBI Bravia Web Page, http://mubi.com/bravia. Can you ask the responsible person for that page to change the guidance there? It would save users being totally misled and for you not to have to keep answering these questions about watching single films. I do not get a warm feeling about MUBI when the advertising is so blatantly wrong.
The incorrect guidance is here:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
I paid to rent a single film on mubi.com or my PlayStation 3. Can I watch that rental on my Bravia device?
As long as you have your MUBI account linked to your device, you can access films you've rented on the website
and...
You can also purchase individual films on the MUBI website or PS3 app, and then watch them on your Bravia device. -

I have a similar problem. I bougth MUBI credits for tests, but I can't watch movies because I don't have a monthly subscripton.(??).
Before selling services we should be aware that MUBI only works in monthly subscriptions for streaming on SONY devices.
I don't want make monthly subscription if am am not sure about the quality of MUBI services. -

Hi everyone,
thank you very much for your patience.
There was a momentary rare bug that disabled MUBI on Bravia TVs, but the problem is solved and everything should work fine again.
Apologies for the late reply to some other questions in this topic.
Here are some important informations about MUBI on BRAVIA:
You can enjoy MUBI via Sony BRAVIA connected devices (not only internet-enabled TVs but also Blu ray players and net box) across 58 countries in Europe plus Australia and New Zealand with more territories to be launched in 2012.
To use MUBI on your Internet-enabled Bravia device, you'll need to link your MUBI account with your Bravia device. It's an easy 3-step process:
Register your device with Sony Essentials
Click here to register your Bravia device with Sony Essentials.
Connect to MUBI
After you register, you will be shown a list of services to associate with your device. MUBI will be among those services if it's available in your region. Click on "Connect to Service" to connect your Bravia device with the MUBI service.
Enjoy
You can now purchase a MUBI subscription for unlimited access to MUBI films on your Bravia device, or rent individual films on the MUBI website and watch them on your Bravia device. Enjoy!"
Please let me know if you have any further questions and I'll be happy to help.
Best regards,

I also have the same problem here in Brazil. My account is correctly connected, i can watch any film on bravia, but i can't access my watchlist, wich makes it really stupid, its better connecting the computer to the tv. Cant you make a better app instead of the standard sony app? like youtube does? You shouldnt advertise what you are not doing.....

I have a sony bravia and pay a monthly subscription . however I have only 30 films available. Am I doing something wrong or is this all I can get.
If so I will cancel my payments as it just isnt value for money. -

Dear bernard simkins,
In a few countries, the UK included, we've launched a new business model where, as you've seen, we show 30 rotating films at once, with a new film every day that is then available to watch for 30days whenever and as often as you want. After 30days it is replaced by another film.
The advantage to this is that we can charge much less (the new price is a small fraction of what it used to be), and since we're dealing with 30-day licenses, it's easier to bring bigger films to the platform. For instance, Truffaut's The 400 Blows premiered on MUBI UK, and it wasn't part of our regular library before.
Likewise, with only 30 films at once, we take great care with what we're showing, and we make sure that each film is properly selected and well presented. This level of curation means that for smaller films we can highlight them, so they don't get overshadowed in a larger library.
I realize that, for our loyal UK users, 30 films is less choice than the 1,000 we had before. But we hope that this new model will be like an online version of your local cinematheque, with a carefully constructed program that nonetheless allows a degree of freedom, so you can watch the films on your own schedule.
Please let me know if you need any further informations or suppoert and I'll be happy to help.
Best regards,
Maximilian
MUBI Support Team-
Dear Maximilian,
I'm a newcomer to MUBI and when I signed up a couple of months ago I was delighted that I could stream films from my Sony Blu-ray player to my TV. The choice was amazing and the streaming quality excellent. However, yesterday I noticed that the selection is now reduced to 30 movies.
After reading your reply to Bernard I must say that I feel really disappointed by your decision to adopt this business model. I would be happy to pay £10 for the whole selection and I'm sure many other MUBI users would too. I HATE watching films on my computer and MUBI was one of the reasons why I bought a Sony Blu-ray. In light of this development I might have to consider canceling my subscription if I only have a choice of 30. Would it be possible to offer two options for heavy users (£10 for the whole library) and light users (£3 for the 30)?
Best Regards,
Mark -
-
I'd support that as a uk user- happy to pay more for a larger selection, thanks.

I have 3 seperate Sony internet-connected devices (a smart TV with connected blu ray player, and a seperate Blu ray connected to another TV in my holiday flat). Am I allowed to link all 3 devices to my subscription? If not, is it easy to temporarily disconnect my home device and connect my other blu ray when I visit my flat?

I can watch free movies from MUBI on my Sony Blu-ray player, but not the pay-per-view movies. My device is registered at Sony Entertainment Network, and I have a credit on my MUBI account. Why can't I watch pay-per-view movies? I receive a message stating that I do not have a MUBI subscription, which is incorrect.
-
-
In the Netherlands the same thing all over again: i am linked, I have a credit on my MUBI account, I can watch free movies, but I can't watch pay-per-view movies.
Maximilian stated 5 month ago that this problem was solved.
"You can now purchase a MUBI subscription for unlimited access to MUBI films on your Bravia device, or rent individual films on the MUBI website and watch them on your Bravia device".
This is clearly untrue. When will this be solved? -
-
I contacted customer support and found out that films can be watched on a Sony Blu-ray player with a monthly subscription, but not with the pay-per-movie system of payment. Presumably this is the same for a Sony Bravia TV. They offered me a refund. I then set up a 14-day free trial and a monthly subscription with my credit card. This works just fine for me, so I'm a happy customer.
-
-
I just signed up for MUBI via Sony Entertainment website and have now also received and email from Mubi where I was asked to go back in and establish a password. This I have also done. But the service has still not appeared on my Sony Bravia TV so am wondering if there is anything else I need to do or does it take some time before the service appears? I live in Sweden and have not opted for the subscription model yet as I want to try it via pay-as-you-go first.

Dear Nicholas Thompson,
Thank you for contacting us and for using MUBI.
You actually do not need to subscribe or be a member to begin with to find MUBI on your Bravia TV. It's included along with other applications at first launch when you buy your TV.
If you go to Home (or your local equivalent) by pressing the button with the same name on your TV remote, and go in the Video section (it should be on the right from where you land when you press home), you will find MUBI.
If you still can't find it, please tell me and forward me the reference of your TV so I can try to see if there could be an incompatibility or help you finding it.
Thank you again for contacting us, and if you have any additional question or concern regarding the use of MUBI on your Bravia TV or MUBI in general, please feel free to contact us again !
Best regards,

I followed all the steps to link my MUBI account to Sony Essentials and the MUBI page is telling me the account is linked. But when I then switch on my Bravia 37EX403 and navigate to MUBI and try to watch a film, I get this message:

Please advise me what to do, thanks -

Hi Shane,
Thank you for your message.
Have you made sure that MUBI is activated in your Premium services in the TV section (in case you had another device) on the Sony Entertainment Network website?
If it is activated, could you please try to deactivate it and reactivate it? This trick, as odd as it seems, works sometimes for some of our users (and has actually been found by one of them :) ).
Please let me know how it goes, we will do our best so you can enjoy your films on your great TV as soon as possible!
Best regards,
Quentin
