Help MUBI Speak Your Language

2010 is marking a rapid expansion in the international audience for MUBI and with the impending launch of a native application on the Sony PlayStation 3—which will be used in 18 countries around the world—the multilingual audience for the platform will increase dramatically.

So with this in mind we’ve just launched the a new Translations feature that gives our worldwide community of film lovers the ability to submit a short synopsis for any film in these 7 languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Dutch and Portuguese.

Interacting with the Translations feature is a simple three-step process:

Once you’re logged in, you’ll find a Translate button at the top right of every film page

Once clicked a modal dialog appears with a Language drop-down menu, Film Title field, and Short Synopsis field

The Language drop-down menu can be used to see if the film has an accepted translation in any of the 7 languages. If there’s an accepted translation for that selected language it will appear pre-populated in the Film Title and Short Synopsis field. With the language of your choice selected you can either submit an edited version of the currently accepted translation or write a totally new one.

Once you submit your translation it’s sent to our team of moderators for approval. lf your translation is approved you’ll receive an email notification and it will be published on the site.

We look forward to your submissions and appreciate your help in internationalizing the foreign, classic, and independent film destination you know and love.

Thanks! Merci! Gracias! Grazie! Danke! Obrigado! Dank!
