A single european space for movie licenses
Employ a person to do lobbying in Brussels. The current situation concerning film-rights (e.g. DRM, film licensing, ...) in Europe is unacceptable. You should try to move European politics in a direction, which creates a single European space concerning laws for movie licensing. The current national handling is ridiculous and especially annoying for persons in small countries (which are unattractive markets).

thanks for that idea. We know that this situation is not ideal but this is the way the cinema industry is built and somehow it makes sense that different companies own the rights to a film in different countries (you would not want one studio to own all the rights to all films in all countries).
However be sure that every time we are consulted by national or cross-national institutions, we make sure that these instutions know how complicated it is to work at the international level while films are bought at a national level by distributors in most cases.

I really don't get the film business.
What is the reason that it's so difficult for companies to distribute films worldwide? I live in Norway and we are said to be a bunch of rich people but we are apparently not seen as attractive customers. We didn't get films on iTunes before this year, we have no netflix and most of the film-sites here have very poor collections of films.
Searching for films here on Mubi is frusterating, not because I don't find the films I'm looking for but because nothing so far has been available for me. -

Hi,
although you have a huge library I'm in bad luck because films I've spend years searching for is here but not available in the Norwegian library. Some of these films seems impossible to find elsewhere.
I'll keep on searching other places but I wonder if I'm on a holiday in another country, bringing my computer with me, would I be able to watch the films in that country?
Say, if "Life at the Top" with Laurence Harvey is available in UK, can I watch it while being on vacation in UK? -

Apologies for delay in replying. Yes - that's correct when on a holiday in another country you would have access to what's available for example in the UK. Our system reads your current IP location so you can see the films that are available to watch in the countries that you travel to.
